How to boost your immune system in winter
Do you get sick more often during the winter? That’s completely normal. Cold weather, lack of sunlight, and spending more time indoors can weaken the immune system. To avoid runny noses, sore throats, and other common winter discomforts, here are 7 simple and effective tips to help you stay healthier throughout the winter season.
1 Wash your hands regularly
Washing your hands with soap and water remains one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent infections. Before eating, after using the restroom, blowing your nose, taking public transportation, or touching shared surfaces, this habit truly makes a difference.
When soap and water are not available, an alcohol-based hand sanitizer is a good alternative.
2 Air out your home daily
Indoor air is often more polluted than outdoor air. Furniture, paint, household cleaners, scented candles, and appliances can release harmful substances. Without proper ventilation, moisture can build up and encourage mold growth, which may trigger allergies, coughing, or worsen asthma.
Airing out your home for at least 20 minutes a day, even in winter, is essential.
3 Get enough sleep
Lack of sleep directly weakens the immune system. Getting enough rest allows your body to recover, regenerate, and regulate its metabolism.
Give yourself the amount of rest your body truly needs.
4 Focus on nourishing foods
During winter, we often gravitate toward comfort foods… which are not always the most nutritious. Yet, what we eat directly impacts our energy levels and immune health.
Improving the nutritional quality of your meals is a powerful step. If you’re not sure where to start, working with a health practitioner can significantly make a difference.
5 Keep moving
Physical activity supports the immune system when it is tailored to your pace and abilities. Doing too much or too little can weaken the body.
The key: consistency and moderation.
6 Use medicinal plants
Thanks to their active compounds, medicinal plants can effectively support the body when used appropriately.

7 Disinfect your smartphone
Our phones go everywhere with us, yet we often forget to clean them. However, they are true breeding grounds for germs.
Studies have shown that there can be up to ten times more bacteria on a phone than on a toilet seat.
